Time delay function inside the sensor eliminates the load temporarily switching off due to car headlights, lightening or another temporary light source. Also, what is the reason for putting photocontrols in different areas? Last I looked it gets dark all over each night. Just pick an unsheltered outdoor location near your time clock that isn't affected by the lighting. Put the time clock contacts AFTER the photocontrol in series with the red lead.

However, if you place a premium on product quality over everything else, you can ignore the design criteria. Of course, all of the products we show meet high quality and aesthetic criteria. The only way I see to have the timers indoors, , and the photocells outside for each area; is to have a photocell with separate contacts.

So the lights will come on mid-day for a few seconds when the photocell powers up from the timer. And then the timer will shut off at 3am. Used to do this all the time with the simple time clocks like Intematic T101s.. Requires you do separate the time clock power from the contact so the timer runs full time but it works for your application. I'm thinking the lights will come on for a few seconds every day when the timer turns on.

Then the lights will turn off until dusk, until the photocell triggers. Much simpler to have all the timers inside, in one location. The corporate management takes it very seriously, and the last thing store managers want is to get a customer complaint about bad customer service. A lot of their reviews are based on customer satisfaction, which directly affects their bonuses at the end of the year. After marking the cut points and double checking my measurements, pull a Drywall T-Square from the rack and literally draw the full length of the cuts. It may seem to be just a bit overkill, but it eliminates the guesswork.

After clapping the base plate against the wood, pull the trigger and slowly guide the saw along the line you marked previously. Be sure to keep the saw steady and apply constant, even pressure as you cut. You may feel unprofessional or a bit overwhelmed because you're out of your comfort zone. With the right preparation, you can get what you need and end up with a successful project using custom-cut wood from Home Depot.

If you don't want a product at some point, it has to be destroyed. Better yet, I didn't have to return any of the products after reviewing them either!

A few Home Depot stores I’ve visited have the ‘Reduced Lumber’ corner. Basically, it’s a pile of wood products with minor damages, but still useful. Furthermore, proof of purchase, a receipt or online invoice, must be provided in order to obtain a full refund. Home Depot is not obligated to cut any wood that is not purchased in store. The wood they do cut is as a convenience to the customer that may need assistance in making their wood purchase more manageable when loading it into a vehicle. 40+ Fun & Easy Activities for 1 Year Olds

All you need is a box of cardboard, some crayons or markers, and some tape. Stacking activities can be super fun for kids, but there’s also a lot of thought, understanding, and technique that goes into the process. When your baby stacks his toys, woodblocks, or anything stackable, that right there is an opportunity to develop some pretty important skills. This sensory activity will also help your kids identify, recollect, and even retain primary colors. So use all these to your advantage to make the most out of playtime and lesson time. A scoop and drop activity like this ball scoop can be entertaining and effective developmental activity.

One reason is that it helps them to develop their fine motor skills. Picking up and discovering rocks of different shapes and sizes should be a tactile sensory experience for your child. The act of picking up rocks and other objects should also develop their fine motor skills. Put some ball pit balls in a basket and start sorting! Kade eventually used this box to sort many of his toys, not just the balls. He would sort his trucks/cars based on their color, his Daniel Tiger figures based on their clothing, his play food, etc.

Sing-Along to Baby Bum

I wanted to build on that a bit further, and put together a handful of activities for an even wider age group of 1-2 year olds. Every baby, toddler, and child develops so much at their own pace and in their own way, which makes it tough to put an exact age on any of these activities. For this reason, I felt the wider age range could be helpful. You’ll introduce your child to new concepts and environments while relishing in his ability to find joy in simple activities.

Do ensure that the volume stays within a safe margin. When it comes to indoor activities for 1 year olds, grooving to music is tough to beat. Use a set of puzzles, toys or other items to lay out two sets of lines across a room. These lines should serve as a “tunnel,” the margins within which your child should move around. Encourage your child to move within this “tunnel” to see how well they can stay within the margins that you have laid out for them.

Snack Time

Make a set of large story stones for them to play with if you think they can handle them. Let’s face it, one year olds can seem tough to know what to do with all day long. They are busy and on the go, but still put everything in their mouths, are easily overstimulated, and have a tendency to want to get into that which they are not allowed.

Choose a long hallway in your home and pepper it with numerous obstacles such as cardboard boxes, pillows, and so on. Let your child reach from one end to the other as quickly as he can. Just place a tall barrel and a bucket full of balls in the middle of a room. Let your kid figure out what to do with it and he will start putting the balls inside the tub properly. This is one of the best indoor activities that can be quite rousing and funny for your child. Understanding the formation and shape of letters along with their sounds is extremely helpful for kids to know the foundation of the language.

You can also have him squeeze water out of the sponge into another container, just like you did with the water pouring activity. Let him lead the activity rather than trying to create something discernible. For instance, don’t insist on making clouds with cotton balls and tell him where to glue. Instead, let him decide where he wants to place the pieces. These activities are for the entire range of 1 year olds, from 12 to 24 months. If you find your child isn’t ready for a particular activity yet, hold off for a time when she is and try a different one for now.

The sensory aspect of this activity aside, playing with playdough can really boost your child’s creativity. They are effectively conjuring an image in their head and then recreating that image into something tangible by molding the playdough. Making music or just about any sound is one of those activities that ignites a ton of sensory nodes in a baby. It’s not just an auditory activity, it also involves movements, coordination, and quite often, rhythm. After you have plucked some grass and flowers from your backyard, allow your child to arrange them on a white piece of paper.

Washing toys - this is always fun - you can wash cars, ponies, dolls etc. I try to get outside at least once each day and a lot more if I can. Toddlers LOVE to run around and explore and there are so many cheap and inexpensive ways to do this. Healthline has strict sourcing guidelines and relies on peer-reviewed studies, academic research institutions, and medical associations. You can learn more about how we ensure our content is accurate and current by reading our editorial policy.

Gross Motor Shape Jump

Make use of those plastic blocks for one of the smartest physical activities for one-year-olds. Arrange your bed with pillows and other soft items to create an underwater world. Let your child be the dolphin and let him swim around on the bed as you give him directions.

Playing picnic or restaurant with a young child helps them to learn about different foods and lets them explore utensils (without the mess!). This sort of play also provides opportunities to learn about shapes and colors. And while toddlers will do plenty of exploring on their own, caregivers getting involved is essential to a 1-year-old's development.

How to Teach Your Baby to Drink from an Open Cup

It can keep your kids occupied while allowing them to learn certain movements and motor skills. So much to explore in terms of textures, sounds, you name it. I used three different types of dried beans that I found at the store and just poured a little of each in a different container. There was no rhyme or reason to this activity other than to just let Kade have fun mixing, scooping, dumping, pouring, exploring, and playing. Sometimes the best activities are the ones where we let THEM come up with the rules.

You can include sand, rice, cereals, lentils, little pebbles, bells, and more. A sensory bin is not far away from a sandbox or a water box. Only, instead of just two textures, your baby gets a whole smorgasbord of them.

I also designate a children’s table that adjusts to my kids’ height, which is a great option if you don’t want other surfaces in your home to get colored. Finger painting allows him to touch paint, learn what it is and what happens when you mix them together. He’s using his fingers, which is a perfect introduction to painting if he can’t grasp a paintbrush yet. Finger painting with a 1 year old is more about the experience of painting than producing a work of art. In fact, your child’s paper will likely be nothing more than a soaked sheet with layers of paint.

Color coordinating toys as they’re put away after playtime is a great way to develop your child’s coordination skills. You can create a fun toy washing activity for your one-year-old! Just add your favorite bubble bath to a water bucket and let your toddler wash their plastic toys!

Attending a Music Concert

You can take this a step further by trying to encourage your child to color coordinate their toys as they’re being put away. Educational activities for 1 year olds don’t always have to involve books. Sometimes, helping toddlers put away their toys can be quite educational indeed. Most importantly, remember that your toddler is always at play — even something as simple as banging pots and pans together can become playtime. So don’t feel guilty if you don’t have time to craft elaborate sensory bins or enough space to house dozens of toys.

And of course, you can always keep the box as-is for your 1 year old to crawl through for endless pretend play. Teach your child how to stack one block on top of the other. Build a tower and have him knock it down, or help him build something out of the blocks. An alternative is to flip through albums (remember those?) and share old photos of loved ones. Nothing delights 1 year olds more than popping bubbles.

In Happy Home Designer, your entire job is designing homes (surprise!) for the series’ animal villagers and various community buildings in the town square. Each of over 300 animals has their own design vision, and taking on a job helpfully unlocks items relevant to their stylistic visions. The downside is that a lot of the satisfaction in regular Animal Crossing comes from working hard to acquire everything, and that's absent here — but it's a trade off I make gladly.

It can sometimes feel unsatisfying to just design without actually participating in a town like in the main series. It’s not the actual town environment I’m used to in Animal Crossing — it’s a very creative but also more distant experience, being an employee instead of a villager. I found myself wishing that there was just something else, even a K.K. Slider concert, that would make me feel like I was a part of the world I was designing. There’s no shortage of actual designing to do, and the series’ charm prevents it from becoming just a series of soulless tasks. Plus, you won’t have to worry about being in debt with a raccoon this time around. Actually placing items is absolutely better in Happy Home Designer, too. The new drag-and-drop decorating system is a significant improvement over manually pushing and pulling furniture. Customizing colors and patterns in an instant is also a serious upgrade — it used to take real-life hours to tweak one item to my liking, and now it's a snap.
